a horse was tied to a tall tree just outside the revolving doors.  a woman in a purple tank top rubbed his neck.  a small crowd of people formed near them.  i watched for a minute before unlocking my bike.

i had an easier time on the machine today.  i was also reminded about how much i love volleyball.  on my walk to the grocery store after the game i thought about high school and seeing my parents in the stands.

the kids were three years older now.  we cut paper and passed the pieces around in a circle.  we tried not to laugh.  the girl with the pony-tail stared out the window. i walked from the front of the room to the back.  i knew what i was doing.

i waited in line for a stall of my own.  long curtains separated each section.  i knew i shouldn't be here.  i was pricked and fell asleep.  curled up on the toilet in the house i grew up in, i woke up.  my right hand held a boy in the shape of a small bird.  his beak looked like two fingernails glued together.  his matted feathers were hot pink.

i was always in the gym.  people would look at me crazy because i spent so much time there.  but that's what it was about.  i'm glad i did it.

fish tank.
i had a bird's eye view of the entire island.  i could see a middle aged fat guy sitting near the center of it and someone on a loud speaker introduced him as the man in charge.  i spotted a walrus as a speck in the water.  as it approached our boat its whiskers grew as long as tree branches.  i knew it wouldn't harm us but could sense what was to follow.  i darted up a tall thin pole.

even the - the stars up here in the - in the sky look like a mess. there is no harmony in the universe. we have to get acquainted to this idea that there is no real harmony as we have conceived it. but when I say this, i say this all full of admiration for the jungle. it is not that i hate it, i love it. i love it very much. but i love it against my better judgment.
